Is Barack Obama a Christian? I told you in my last blog that I have never endorsed a presidential candidate or been political in my ministry. I simply stated that for many years I was hoping that an African American would be elected president. At one time I thought it might be Colin Powell, because I felt he was certainly qualified. I thought it was time for America to make a statement.
First of all I want to say to the African American community that Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream was being fulfilled as he prophetically declared, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
Secondly, to every American regardless of their race that we are all created in the image of God. Thirdly to the world, that America is truly, “the home of the brave and the land of the free,” enough to make changes.
I realize that many of you are concerned about President-elect Obama’s stand on abortion and same sex marriages. I will tell you I have concerns as well, but I am encouraged by his book, “The Audacity of Hope.” In the book he says …”perhaps we could agree on a way to reduce the number of women who felt the need to have abortions in the first place.” My point is, regardless of how you voted we Americans have elected the first African American to be our president. He is not just the president of Democrats; he is also the president of Republicans. He is the president of all Americans. We may disagree with some of his policies, even from what we consider to be against Biblical truth. However, I hope you remember many of the kings that God chose in the Bible were flawed, but they were still ordained by God.
I have heard a few people say some very harsh things that I believe are unfair and without merit things like he is a Muslim or he is the anti-Christ. He has declared that he is a Christian. In his book he tells us how he walked down the aisle of his church and accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized. The bible says, (1 John 4:2-3 NKJV); “By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the [spirit] of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.” Barack Obama has confessed Jesus Christ is his Lord and Savior.
My prayer for Barack Obama is that God will use him like he did Barak in the Bible, Judges Chapters 4 and 5. Deborah and Barak were used by God to defeat the enemies of Israel, Sisera, “And the hand of the children of Israel prospered…” (Judges 4:24 KJV) This was a battle that was more than a battle on earth. It was a battle that was fought from the heavens. ”They fought from heaven; the stars in there courses fought against Sisera.”(Judges 5:20 KJV) I pray that Barack Obama will be listed in the hall of faith along with Moses, Joshua, Gideon, Sampson, David, Samuel, Barak, and the prophets.
Is it a sign that proposition 8 in California that defined marriage as a union between one man and one woman, would not have passed if it weren’t for the African American vote? Black Americans voted for it by over 70%, while a majority of white voters were against it. God may be up to something we do not know. (Isaiah 55:8&9 KJV),”For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
My dear friends, I realize that I view things through the lens of hope, grace, and mercy; because that is the gift God gave me, the gift of hope!

I think you are right. The Bible says we should pray and rejoice for our leaders. None of them are perfect. None of us are perfect either. When Paul wrote that scripture in 1Timothy, Nero was the Emperor of Rome and he was feeding Christians to the lions! The election is over. It isn’t right for people to start criticizing the man before he has even taken office! I’m with you, “Hope and Mercy!” Let’s pray for him and give him a chance and rejoice in the joy this election has brought to so many who have suffered for so many years. God will bless you for standing with Black America all these years.

President-Elect Obama may very well be a Christian. I have no reason to doubt his statement that he has accepted Christ. However, what we should look for in a President (or any leader for that matter) is ethics and morals, not just a confession that one has been born-again. As far as I know, John McCain never confessed to being born-again, yet his morals (where the sanctity of human life and traditional marriage were concerned) were much more in line with the Bible’s than Sen. Obama’s. That is why I voted for John McCain and Sarah Palin. So I don’t think the issue has so much to do with whether or not Barack Obama is a Christian. I think the greater issue is will he govern with Biblical principles? (Remember, President Clinton claimed to be a Christian as well and yet we remember the scandals that occurred during his administration).
Now that the election is over, however, I do have an obligation to obey Romans chapter 13 where it states that every soul should be subject to the governing authorities. I also have an obligation to pray for President-Elect Obama according to II Tim. 2:1-2.
However, that doesn’t mean that we should fail to speak up when unrighteousness occurs. We, as Christians, have slowly let our Biblical values become eroded by allowing legal murder in the name of abortion to occur in our country, by allowing homosexuals to flaunt their immorality and by allowing prayer to be taken out of our schools. God’s word is banned in public places and it is no longer acceptable to pray in Jesus’ Name. The very moral foundations that this country was based upon have slowly been eroded.
I believe it is time for the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ to wake up and not only pray for our leaders, but to speak up against unrighteousness in a bold but loving manner. For too long we have let our voices be silenced and have allowed the enemy to take over this nation. As a result, we are no longer a Christian nation but a post-Christian nation.
However, I believe we can bring American back to the moral values that it once had if we will only let our voices be heard once again and consistently pray for our leaders to do the right thing. May the words that President Lincoln spoke and which are inscribed on the walls of the Lincoln Memorial once again ring true: “…that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

Great thoughts Don. I know, speaking for myself, I had to reflect upon the way that I so easily saw the country going down the drain before he was even sworn in. I had to open my heart to him as a person, irrespective of his political views. I think a lot of my fears were being fed in no small degree by certain radio hosts who like to sensationalize things to the point where it seems as though the end is near. Right now I see a precious family moving into the White House and a man whom I may not agree with but I will not buy into the idea that he is anything other than genuine, even if genuinly wrong (which remains to be seen).

it seems like there is a double standard on here with many people. a lot of people get very angry and upset when anyone says anything negative abour Barak Obama, and at the same time they are quick to condemn president Bush. there is something wrong with picture.
first of all Barak Obama is the president elect, he is not yet the president. i am not saying we should not pray for him, but shouldnt we be praying for president Bush first and foremost, and when Obama finally gets into office then we should pray for him? and thats if he ever get into office; we dont know what might happen between now and then, so lets not jump the gun here.
i have read most of the comments on here. i a have not heard any one called barak a muslem ar the anti Christ; what i did say though is that i believe he is a muslem, and i gave reasons why i believe that he is; i also said that i believe that he is the forerunner of the anti Christ and i also gave reasons why i think so. rev. Don Steward if you go back and read what i wrote you will see exactly what i said

having said that i do believe that Gods hands is in the election of Obama. i do believe because your country has strayed so far from God over these many years, and a lot of the policies that drove America so far from God were ocherstrated by Obama and people like obama (special interest anti God groups , much of them support Obama) that God is giving you what you ask for; what i believe to be the fore runner of the anti Christ, a muslem and a communist. i say this with a lot of sadness in my heart becaus i love your country. i love America! but i have to be honest and forthright. remember the rapture is about to take place and everything have to be in place for that to happen, i believe thats what the election of Obama means more than anything else. i remember hearing Jimmy Swaggart say something to that effect mang years ago. it hurt my heart then, because i fell in love with you country and it hurt me to hear that America would go the way of the world to come against Isreal on that great day
how ever i will still pray for Obama and his family if and when he gets into office because God said that we should do so. in the mean time i will pray for president Bush

I think Obama will have a rough time and I pray God helps him with the strenght and wisdom to be successful … as many of the comments on the Web clearly show — Obama will not only have all the complexities of being President to deal with, but he will also have much ignorance to battle both in the World and also here in our own Nation.

Being a Black woman (I prefer the term Black) I have been asked my opinion about President elect Obama and this is what I have to say. Yes history has been made because there is a man of color that will be in the White House. I feel that God appoints whom he will into whatever office he pleases in order to accomplish that wich he chooses to accomplish. Throughout the history of the Bible God allowed bad kings to rule in order to get his people back on track. Who knows maybe this is the case maybe not. What I do know is that we will all soon find out what king of President he will be. In all things God is in control.

When someone accepts Jesus as their Lord & Savior it should be evident in how they present themself. It should show in what they say, what they do and what they believe in and what’s in their heart and it must always line up with God’s way, His truth and Life. Our salvation is nothing to be ashamed of, nothing to be taken lightly, nothing to hide from others or be put aside just for our own selfish desires. God has to be #1 in everything. Barack Obama is one of his books and in a Newsweek magazine article http://www.newsweek.com/id/145971 says that in the early 1990′s he was baptized, born again, washed in the blood, spirit filled, bible believing, church attending Christian. This is now the year 2008 and has anything changed since then? A lot has changed, a lot of controversy, some of it was connected to his desire for the presidency of the U.S. He did all he could to reach and attain that goal, accepting a lot of the things that go against God’s laws, He put God aside because his concern was to get all votes he could, anyway he could and he was successful in that. It’s like he became almost God like to so many of these voters and they looked to him to save this country. Perhaps Obama just needs to rededicate his life to God, kind of like a renewal of his vows. He needs to honor the Lord with consistency in his relationship with Him. He needs to walk the walk and talk the talk, He needs to be serious with the Lord, this is full time dedication, not part time, not just because you need something from the Lord and when you get it you forget you ever knew the Lord. He needs to get back in a church not wait until he moves to the White House on January 20th, he needs to read His word on a regular basis, he needs to praise him and thank him each and every day and night and of course pay his tithes and offerings. He needs to strengthen his relationship to the Lord now because he needs the Lords guidance and direction. He must do it now before it’s too late.

Pastor Don I very much enjoy your writing it was inspiring. I am an Islander from the Caribbean Island and of African descendant and a great President Barack Oboma supporter and volunteer. I believe his way to the office was appointed by God the way that he kept cool during his attacks and stuck to the issues set the standard for presidents to come. The thing I love about his interview with the newly elected minister to be over the inaugural, I can’t think of his name but the gays are against him right now in CA. when he asked him two questions: 1. what do he believe about God or to that effect. His response that he arises with him in the morning and he can’t do anything without him and he is first in his life that would have settled any doubts I had if I had any about his beliefs. In my heart I truly believed he was a Christian before he confessed it by the way he was above anything petty and the way he worked with people to help them if anything sold me it was that, that he gave up being just an ordinary wall-street worker to work with rebuilding communities and his church. People who what to know that truth will see it out. 2. What do you believe about abortion? His response was something to this effect, free choice that it was a theological question and it is just that. God gave us the right to choose not for others to choose for us and therefore we are held personally accountable for our choices. When we stand before God he will not ask you about what you allowed someone to do, he will ask you about you. So I totally agree with him. Find out the cause then maybe we can stop it from happening in that way. There are a lot of hurting people out there and you don’t know why these young women choose to perform this operation but if you can find out why then maybe we can intervene and do something to help prevent it from taking place. One city at a time and frankly I believe most of these abortions are from Christian young women but that is another discussion.

You are truly a man of God who sees things that God wants you to see. I know because you sent him to my house for 2 or 3 weeks straight every night. He is an Honorable and Loveable God. He announced he was coming as I was watching TV, those beautiful black letters came before my eyes, Christ Jesus, you know we should forget about this race stuff, My Jesus is and was, and will be always a Middle Eastern from Israel, I have seen Him in my Dreams and have heard his accent. I have been Blessed by God and Don Stewart. Thank You Don. I have been to Heaven. But that is another Book to write.

As an African American, it feels great , it is amazing to have Mr. Barack Oboma as our President !!! It was amazing watching it all unfold. As for as the issues go, you can’t please everyone, no matter what you believe. I have no doubt that this was meant to be. We as believers must obey the Word of God and pray, and fast if need be, for protection over their lives, and that he and other believers in leadership positions throughout this nation, will seek God’s wisdom in making decisions in these crucial times. We can do it ! Yes we can ! United we stand ! Divided we fall !

When driving, use as many back roads as possible.” Then Jesus told me, “Your nation will need all the help it can get to defend itself.”
World War III will erupt. All the nations will turn against this nation, blaming Bush for this “problem”, but by the time the world realizes that Bush was not to blame, it will be too late.
Missiles will be dropped on cities on the East Coast, then the West Coast, making 911 look very minimal.
Then by the time we see missiles and fighter jets flying above us in all directions right here at home and you feel like it can’t get any worse than this, that’s when you know the rapture is about to take place. Our nation will lose this war badly. It will be the end of the United States of America… At this time the “One World Government” and the anti-Christ will take over.
All these things I learned from my heaven experience. Jesus also told me, “These are all in God’s Plan. As horrible as these events may seem, these events must happen in order for the Rapture to take place. “This Is How I See Things Playing Out”
Ok, I finally, finally think I have most of the puzzle figured out. And this will coincide with Scott Wakington’s near death experience when the Lord spoke clearly to him. The only thing that I do not have figured out is the timing of the Rapture. So here goes: If you remember, a few weeks back, Colon Powell came out publicly and announced that the world would face an international crisis sometime before January 19th, I believe.
If you also remember, Joe Biden came out publicly and said that Obama would be tested…and that a crisis is looming. Now he did not say in what way Obama would be tested, but I would believe it would be that his patience would be tested, due to
him not being inaugurated in January.
Now, I want to apologize to all, for my misinterpretation of Psalms 108 verse 6. It is not about the rapture at all whatsoever. It says this: That Thy Beloved (ISRAEL) shall be DELIVERED, “SAVE” with THY RIGHT HAND (Of God’s)and answer me. Folks, it cannot, and absolutely will not get anymore clear. This is talking about the ISRAEL, NOT THE CHURCH. How or why I never saw this is beyond me.
Thy Beloved is ISRAEL.
The year is 2008, and the reason that Obama will not be inaugurated in January is because of what Colon Powell stated, and what Joe Biden stated publicly. Israel IS going to attack Iran before the inauguration of Obama, because Bush is the only friend Israel has right now, and he is sitting in the White House.
As most of you are well aware of, there are thousands of old closed down military bases that have been converted into detention centers all around the USA , just do a Google search and you will see most all of them.
When Israel attacks Iran, the USA will be involved in Iraq for fueling=2 0purposes of the Israel fighter jets and will be 100% supporting Israel; and a current sitting president CANNOT leave office during an international crisis involving the U.S.A.
And folks, I guarantee you that this IS going to happen prior to Inauguration Day. And when this happens, and Obama does not get into the White House, you are going to witness something that the U.S.A. has never seen in its lifetime. Civil unrest and martial law like none of us has ever witnessed.
These brainwashed Obama supporters are absolutely going to come unglued because of Israel. It will be the ugliest thing the U.S.A. has ever witnessed. And mark my word, Israel is NOT going to do this with Obama in the White House, simply because they will not be able to use Iraq as their fueling station and the support of Israel by the U.S.A. will not be there with Obama in office.
This is all going to come to pass, and it perfectly lines up with Scott Walkington`s near death experience, and Word from the Lord Jesus Christ. I have never been surer of anything, and now all the pieces to the puzzle are coming together. The only thing that is still not together is the timing of the Rapture, but rest assured it is very, very near. If you also recall, my mother-in-law told me long, long ago, that Bush and Cheney were not leaving the White House. We will be seeing this come to pass very soon…

Also, there is another part to this Puzzle. And it’s in Scott Walkington’s vision from the Lord. During the time Israel attacks Iran, the U.S.A. will have some terrific explosions on both the East and West Coast, but I do not know if that will be from the enemy. It very well could be, but I seem to remember my mother-in-law telling me that it would be something that was orchestrated, I don’t know.
All I know is that we are so very close to all of this happening, and it’s absolutely incredible. The time is drawing near and drawing to a close. I do not believe this is Gog / Magog battle, but it’s the start of something that will eventually lead to it.
I still do not know where the Rapture fits in, maybe Psalms 108 still could be referring to the Rapture, but I don’t think so anymore… My Beloved refers to Israel… that’s what I think. But who knows?
All I know is that Obama will NOT be sworn into office in January 2009.
